Best Diablo 4 Rogue Build for Early, Mid-End Game - Top 3 Rogue Starter Leveling Builds in D4
Rogue seems like it has a very healthy amount of build options between bow builds and melee twisting blades/flurry builds. So we’re showcasing the variation of the Twisted Blades Rogue build. The first build is used for leveling, focused on having plentiful movement options to be quick while leveling, and offers more options to position properly for pulling twisting blades through enemies. The second build is focused on poison damage, and forgoes Shadow Step to take Poison Imbuement for additional damage. This build feels great to play, and having the extra damage from Poison Imbuement feels really great. Now let's dive into these D4 Rogue leveling builds for beginners.
1. D4 Level 1-50 Rogue Starter Build (TB+MS)
This D4 launch Rogue leveling build is going to perform just fine on world tier 2. For anyone who doesn't know, this build relies on the pullback damage from our twisting blades. Basically, when we run up to an enemy, we stab them in the back and our goal is to try to get behind as many enemies as possible and have the knives come back to us through the enemies. With a big pack of enemies, our goal would be to shadow step into the middle of the enemies, place our poison trap, so it affects as many enemies as possible. Then spam our twisting blades, dash out, pull the blades through as many enemies as possible. This build is pretty easy to play, but the hardest part about it is making sure your daggers come back to you through as many enemies as possible to maximize your damage.
Skills
- So for this build, take puncture with fundamental puncture for the spender skill.
- Then for the core skill, take twisting blades, max that out and go with advanced twisting blades for the cooldown slashing. Then take 3 points in sturdy for some extra defense and 1 point in stutter step for some noticeable movement speed.
- In the agility section, take 1 point into shadow step with methodical shadow step and then dash, with disciplined dash. The reason for this is that while you're leveling, you do want to be pretty quick especially when you're just doing the main story quests or even side quests, being able to dash and also shadow step is really nice. On top of that, having shadow step on top of dash gives you unstoppable which is really nice for cc situations. Take 3 points in weapon mastery for some meaningful stats.
- Moving into subterfuge, take poison trap with subverting poison trap, 3 points in exploit for the extra damage, 3 points in malice for the extra capitalization on vulnerable stacks. And then dark shroud with subverting dark shroud for some movement speed and a very nice defensive.
- In the imbuement section, take 1 point into deadly venom to open up debilitating toxins.
- In the ultimate section, we're not going to take an ultimate skill because we do already have 4 skills, so take 1 point in adrenaline rush and 3 points into haste.
- For the passive, take momentum to get some movement speed, energy regeneration and damage reduction. So in order to benefit from momentum, we either need to hit a stun dazed or frozen enemy or hit an enemy from behind.
Aspects
You don't need a full set of aspects for the campaign, but the two aspects that you do really want to have if possible are Bladedancer’s Aspect for the extra damage. Then Aspect of the Umbral is a really nice way to get primary resource back because that is a bit of a problem while leveling.
Gems
Go with an Emerald for the weapon, Ruby for the armor and skull for the jewelry.
2. D4 Level 51-70 Rogue Starter Build (TB+PI)
Moving on to the level 51 to 70 Rogue build for D4 launch beginners, there is one major change. Swapping shadow step out for poison imbuement. The reason to replace shadow step of all skills is because we need dash to apply days to enable some components in the build. Dark shroud is very needed for how squishy Rogue is and poison trap is a really strong CC utility skill that knocks down enemies upon activation and reduces enemies damage dealt by 15%. To explain the choice between shadow imbuement and poison imbuement since we're running poison trap, we’re already running deadly venom and debilitating toxins, meaning that the poison imbuement will increase the amount of benefit we’re gaining from those. From trying out both, poison imbuement feels to be performing better and leads to us clearing nightmare dungeons where the enemies are 8 to 9 levels above our own level.
Stats
Strength: 107
Dexterity: 155
Intelligence: 99
Willpower: 88
When it comes to Stats, we want a nice balance between defensive stats on our armor pieces and crit hit chance, crit damage and vulnerable damage on our weapons and jewelry. If you have extra skill points for an ability, it does gain benefits.
