Elden Ring DLC Preparation Guide: Access, Stats, Best Build and Tips
The Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is probably going to add weapons, spells, ashes of war, and more to enable new or improved build varieties. How do you prepare and have a good start for the DLC? Let’s talk about the best preparation to do for Elden Ring DLC 2024.
Elden Ring DLC Preparation Guide: Access, Stats, Best Build and Tips
How to Access Elden Ring DLC?
To access or start the Shadow of the Erdtree, the number one and main thing you should do is to defeat Radagon, then get to the Mohg, Lord of Blood, and defeat him. You are going to have two separate options, the first one is to follow Varre Questline to get there, and the second option is to go to the Consecrated Snowfield and take the portal directly to Mohgwyn's Sacred Palace.
You must defeat Renalla and Radagon to access the DLC area, then defeat Mohg to grab Malenia's arm which acts as the portal. DLC is expected to be as difficult as late-game areas like Haligtree, so make sure the build is ready by testing against Mohg.
What Build to Use in Elden Ring DLC?
There are lots of build types that have a good potential to be meta in the upcoming DLC, but also determined by the new content and additions in the DLC. It is worth preparing multiple build slots to accommodate new options rather than focusing on a single build.
- Faith Build: Pure faith allows all weapons and existing spells to scale well, faith seems likely to remain supported given new incantations, it is well-rounded and benefits from a variety of upgrades. Faith is presented as the safest option due to existing strength, but all build types may gain from DLC. More new Faith-scaling Elden Ring weapons and spells are expected to be added that pure faith excels at using.
- Dexterity Build: You can access many strong and fast weapons, and we can expect the returns of the beloved Bone Fist weapon, it has flexible and great counter damage potential if new options are added.
- Blood/Bleed Mage Build: Focuses on arcane and bleed weapons, with some faith investment for beast incantations like Roar. This could benefit from new blood or dragon spells and skills.
- Beast Build: Hybrid faith/arcane centered around dragon incantations and roar skills, fun to play but relies on good DLC additions.
- Necromancer Build: Insufficient currently due to split Int/Faith scaling, but could shine if new death spells similar to added sorceries/incants in past DLCs, it has high risk/reward potential.
