Children's Week is an annual event that takes place during the first week of May, where players can participate in a series of quests and activities that involve caring for and escorting orphaned children around the game world. During Children's Week, players can visit orphan matrons in capital cities to receive quests that involve escorting orphaned children to various locations and completing tasks to earn rewards such as pets, toys, and achievements. The Children's Week is made up of 3 Quest Lines. Each quest line can only be done once a year per character and gives you a pet as a reward to choose among several.

Children's Week Achievements - For the Children

It’s everyone's first chance to get the For the Children Achievement in WoW Classic. This achievement is required to get the Reins of the Violet Proto Drake which is a very rare 310% movespeed mount, one of only a few mounts with that speed. You can also get the Matron & Patron Title from this event!

• Aw, Isn’t It Cute? - Obtain one of the Children’s Week reward pets through questing.

• Bad Example - Eat the sweets while your orphan is watching. Tigule’s Strawberry Ice Cream, Tasty Cupcake, Red Velvet Cupcake, Delicious Chocolate Cake, Lovely Cake Slice, Dalaran Brownie, Dalaran Doughnut.

• Daily Chores - Complete five daily quests with your orphan out.

• Hail to the King, Baby - Defeat King Ymiron in Utgarde Pinnacle with your orphan out.

• Home Alone - Use your Hearthstone while your orphan is with you.

• School of Hard Knocks - Take your orphan into the Battlegrounds and complete the feats. Capture the flag in Eye of the Storm, assault a tower in Alterac Valley, assault a flag in Arathi Basin, return a fallen flag in Warsong Gulch.

• Veteran Nanny - Acquire Egbert’s Egg, Sleepy Willy, and Elekk Training Collar on one character.

How to Get a Violet Proto-Drake in Children’s Week 2023

To get started, we need to head to one of the four NPCs to get an orphan whistle. With this whistle, you can summon your orphan and complete the 5 different achievements. There are 3 different orphan types and 3 questlines per faction, but you only need to complete one of the quests to get your Violet Proto Drake in WoW WotLK 2023. Though if you do want to 100% the event, you can technically help an orphan from each NPC for extra pets. Most Alliance players will start at Matron Nightingale and Stormwind to get a human. You'll get a whistle which will summon your orphan and you'll need to make sure he's always summoned for each step. 

Alliance quest line

You'll need to take your little orphan rand us to the Darnassus Bank, the Loch Modan and the Lighthouse in the Southwest of Westfall. Then take your orphan to buy ice cream from Amethyst, Males, and Stormland and then portal or boat ride to Theramore to talk to Jaina and get autograph. Finally, you have to go back to Major Nightingale to get your choice of a piglet, a rat or a turtle. If you turn the quest in, you're going to lose your orphan whistle but you can talk to the orphan matron again to get another one. 

Horde quest line

Meanwhile, if your horde head to Orphan Matron Battlewail on Orgrimmar to get an orc, you'll need to take Little Orphan Gruff to the end of the ratchet docks. The Mor’shan Rampart in north of the Barrens and the Lordaeron Throne Room which is right above the elevator.  Then it's time to get ice cream from Alowicious Czervik and Cairne Bloodhoof which entails talking to Cairne and thunderbluff. Then just head back to Matron Battlewail. 

Matro Mercy

- If you want to help a less popular orphan matron mercy, and Shattrath is also an option, she'll give you a drain eye for Alliance or a bloodhoof or Horde. 

- Your reward for completing this quest will either be a hawkstrider, a pet Alec or a pet Willy. 

- Alliance need to take their orphan to the dark portal, the ring of observance and Tarokkar. At Aeris Landing in Nagrand to talk to Jheel. 

- Afterwards, head to the middle of Caverns of Time and stand near Zaladormu and then buy the Toy Dragon from Alurmi, closer to the entrance tunnel. 

- Then finally portal to exodar and look for auros at the bottom area. 

- Then go up to the shaman Trainer Farseer Nobundo. 

-  Now you can finally go back to Matron Mercy to get your pet reward.

- On the other hand, visit the dark portal and then explore Zangarmarsh. Just make sure to talk to hit you.

- Then you'll have to go to the throne of elements to talk to Elementalist Sharvak. 

- After that, visit the Caverns of Time by portaling from dalaran. Just stand in front of Zaladormu and afterwards by the Toy Dragon.

- Finally, you can go to the Walk of Elders and Silvermoon.

- Then you can go back to Matron Mercy to turn in the quest chain. If none of these orphans are doing it for you, you can also add to matron aria dalaran.

Matron Aria

You get to choose between a wolvar or an oracle orphan. The wolvar orphan questline rewards you with the wolver pup, while the Oracle questline rewards you with an oracle hatchling. 

Head to Grizzly hill, then the oracles will head to Winterfin Playmate in Borean Tundra. Or if you have a wolvar, head to snowfall glade in Moa’ki Harbor, then head to the Bronze Dragonshrine, Northeast of warm rest Temple. The follow-up quest will take the oracles to the Shaper's Terrace to talk to Adam Marion, while the wolvar visit Hemet Nesingwary where he at his base camp. Then go to the top of Wyrmrest Temple to meet Alexstrasza. Finally, head to the Wonderworks and buy a Small Paper Zeppelin, and throw it at your orphan so we can go back to Matron Aria to get our reward.
