WoW SoD Winter Veil Event Guide 2023: Locations, Quests, Rewards & Achievements

Classic WoW Winter Veil lasts from December 15th to January 2nd. It's one of WoW's oldest Christmas holiday events dating back to vanilla WoW. The Winter Veil event brings seasonal quests, rewards, and decorations to Season of Discovery realms following its classic WoW iteration but with some adjustments for level 25 players. It allows obtaining recipes and items ahead of their normal phase. Most importantly, have fun celebrating the holidays of Azeroth - the Winter Veil event only comes once a year! Season of Discovery Winter Veil Locations

Players can find Season of Discovery Winter Veils in the capital cities of Ironforge for Alliance and Orgrimmar for Horde. There will be Christmas trees, Greatfather Winter NPC, and quest givers.

Season of Discovery Winter Veil Quests

Most quests just require chatting/running to turn in, but Metzen, Snowman, and Smokywood ones involve some light fighting or coordinating with others. Rewards are typically SoD gold, seasonal buffs, and a chance at recipes.

Alliance & Horde Quests:

The Reason for the Season: Talk to the questgiver in Ironforge/Orgrimmar and listen to their story.

 -The Feast of Winter Veil: starts after you turn in The Reason for the Season with Sagorne Creststride in the Valley of Wisdom.

Metzen the Reindeer: Track down and rescue Metzen who is lost in the wintery lands. He can be found north of Kharanos.

Great-father Winter is Here:Speak with Greatfather Winter by the tree in Ironforge/Orgrimmar.

Stolen Winter Veil Treats: Investigate and find the Strange Snowman stealing gifts in capital cities.

 -You're a Mean One... (Alterac Mountains): Locate and defeat the Strange Snowman in Growless Cave. May need a group.

 -A Smokywood Pastures' Thank You!: Return to the capital city questgiver to complete.

Treats for Great-father Winter: Bake and turn in 12 Gingerbread Cookies to the quest giver.

Season of Discovery Winter Veil Rewards

Players undertake seasonal quests and interact with winter-themed NPCs/objects to earn cosmetic rewards, consumables, recipes, and gold during the Winter Veil event in WoW Classic SoD. Completing objectives has a chance to reward useful items ahead of their normal phases.

1.Recipes

Rewarded from gifts obtained by completing quests or opening presents after Dec 25th. Recipes include Engineering schematic, tailoring patterns, alchemy elixir.

•  Recipe: Elixir of Frost Power - Alchemy

•  Plans: Edge of Winter - Blacksmithing

•  Schematic: Snowmaster 9000 - Engineering

•  Formula: Enchant Weapon - Winter's Might - Enchanting

•  Pattern: Gloves of the Greatfather - Leatherworking

•  Pattern: Green Holiday Shirt - Tailoring

2. Preserved Holly

Drops from Winter Revelers in inns. Use to update Warsong Gulch mount models at level 25.

3. Mistletoe

Also drops from Winter Revelers. Grants a +20 spirit buff when consumed.

4. Winter Hats

Green and Red hats drop from mobs in Blackfathom Deeps raid instance.

5. Gnome Disguise

Obtained from Wintervolt machines near cities. Lets you polymorph into a gnome.

6. Egg Nog and Gingerbread Cookies

Learned from completing Cooking daily quest that requires turning in the baked goods.

7. Gold

SoD Gold from completing main questlines in capital cities.

8. Gifts

Obtained by completing quests or opening presents after Dec 25th. Chance to contain rare recipes.

Season of Discovery Winter Veil Achievements

There are several achievements players can work towards completing related to the Winter Veil holiday event in WoW Classic Season of Discovery

• Happy Winter Veil! - Complete the main questlines in either Horde or Alliance capital cities.

• Just Can't Get Enough! - Obtain 30 Preserved Holly from Winter Revelers.

• Metzen the Delivered - Complete the quest to rescue Metzen the Reindeer.

• Oh Boy, Presents! - Open 20 gifts underneath the holiday tree after December 25th.

• On Ice! - Kill Abominable Greench as part of the Season's End quest.

• Snowball Fighter - Land a damaging or healing critical strike with a Snowball.

• That's the Spirit! - Apply the Mistletoe buff to yourself 20 times.

• You're a Mean One - Complete the quest to defeat the Strange Snowman.

• Let Me Take Your Hat! - Loot either a Green or Red Winter Hat from Blackfathom Deeps.

• Gnomish Disguise - Obtain the Gnomish Disguise from a Wintervolt machine.

Season of Discovery Winter Veil Event Tips

Be sure to complete all the quests offered in your capital city, as they reward good XP and gold. Group up with others to take on Metzen the Reindeer in Alterac Mountains and the Strange Snowman boss - these mobs are difficult for solo players. Interact with Winter Revelers inside inns daily for Preserved Holly and Mistletoe buffs. Both items fetch a good price on the auction house. Remember to check under the tree in your capital city every day starting December 25th, as the gifts have a rare chance to contain valuable crafting recipes not available until later phases.
