Elden Ring Latenna Questline Guide - How To Start Latenna’s Quest In Elden Ring

Latenna's quest begins with a different NPC by the name of Albus at the Village of the Albinaurics. To get to the village, head west from the Scenic Isle Site of Grace in lyria passing into the large poisonous cavern beneath the moonlight altar. Sticking to the west a trail of bodies will lead you up into the village.

1. Find Albus (Required)

Albus is a short distance east from the Site of Grace, however, there's a depraved perfumer along the way that will need to be defeated, otherwise putting Albus in danger. Albus is initially disguised as a jar, hit him once, and only wants to dispel the disguise and then speaks through all of Albus's dialogue and you'll get the right half of the Haligtree Medallion. Albus will also ask you to seek out a young albanarik by the name of Latenna. Upon further interaction, Albus will fade away. You can speak with gideon back at the roundtable hold to gain clues on Latenna's whereabouts but it's totally optional.

2. Lakeside Crystal (Required)

To continue Latenna's quest head directly south of the Scenic Isle Site of Grace and you'll eventually arrive at the entrance of the Lakeside Crystal Cave.

3. Slumbering Wolf’s Shack (Required)

From there, carefully make your way down through the Crystal Cave until reaching the boss room at the end. A bloodhound knight guards the exit of the Crystal Cave. It will drop these Cerulean Amber Medallion Talisman when defeated.

4. Find Latenna NPC(Required)

Afterward, continue on to the Slumbering Wolf’s Shack. Upon arrival, you should find Latenna and her companion wolf Lobo. At first, Latenna will be defensive but showing her the right half of the secret medallion will soften her demeanor considerably. Continue speaking to Latenna and agree with her request and she'll transform into a spiritual form. So that she may accompany you on your journey.

Tips

If you've already been to the Mountaintops of the Giants and especially if you've got the left half of the Haligtree Medallion at castle soul. Then you may not find Latenna at the Slumbering Wolf’s Shack. Only her spirit summons. If that happens you can still follow the remaining steps in this guide. But you may not be able to complete the final step in Latenna's quest which is necessary to get the Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. As long as you were able to show Latenna the right half of the Haligtree Medallion and start her quest you'll then be able to complete the quest at any time after. With all that said, there will most likely be some time before you actually progress Latenna's quest after starting it, as you'll need to get to the Mountaintops of the Giants to do so. Before continuing on going to the mountaintops will lock you out of completing Yura's Quest. So we highly suggest doing that if you haven't already.

5. Altus Plateau (Required)

We'll start with getting to Altus Plateau. There are several ways to do that but in this Elden Ring Latenna Questline guide, we'll be using the Grand Lift of Dectus. You'll need to get both halves of the Dectus Medallion, one can be found at Fort Haight in southeast Limgrave and the other half can be found at Fort Faroth in Caelid. The easiest way to reach Fort Faroth is by using the transporter behind the Third Church of Marika to be transported to Bestial Sanctum. Then travel south to reach the fort. Once you have the complete medallion, take it to the Grand Lift of Dectus in northeastern Liurnia. You can get to it by traveling up along the west side of Liurnia lake. After reaching the Main Carria Manor Gate Site of Grace, head east and use a stone spire bridge to cross over to the east side, then make your way north to the lift.

6. Mountaintops of the Giants (Required)

In order to access the mountaintops, you'll first need to acquire 2 of the great Elden Ring runes. We recommend getting them from Godric the Grafted and Rennala Queen of the Full Moon. Then head to the north side of the capital where a boss is guarding the entrance. Then make your way through Leyndell Royal Capital and defeat Morgoth the Omen King at the Elden Throne. After doing all of that, Melano will give you the rolled medallion which you can use to take the Grand Lift of Rold up to the mountaintops.

7. Castle Sol (Required)

From the Grand Lift of Rold, make your way further north. There is a spirit spring to the northwest of the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins that will bring you to the elevated area near these Stargazers’ Ruins. Move north once more, across a small bridge and down a sloppy hillside to arrive at Castle Sol.

8. Church of the Eclipse (Required)

Head through the castle making a brief stop at the Church of the Eclipse along the way.

9. Get Eclipse Shotel (Optional)

Within the church, you'll find the Eclipse Shotel, one of the legendary armaments. Grab it then continue through the rest of the castle.

10. Defeat Commander Niall (Required)

Commander Niall is guarding the left half of the halak medallion. He's similar to commander O’ Neil from the Swamps of Aeonia. The major difference is that Niall inflicts chill instead of scarlet rot and has two spectral banished knights to help him in the fight, along with some unique additions to his moveset. We definitely recommend a strong level 10 summon to assist in taking him down such as black knife tisch, the dung eater puppet, or the mimik tier. Also if you can get a bewitching branch off on one of the two spectral banished knights, it will help turn the numbers advantage in your favor.

Commander Niall Loots

Commander Niall drops the Veteran's Prosthesis weapon when defeated and also makes the Veteran’s armor set available for purchase from finger reader Enia at round table hold.

11. Get Bewitching Branch (Optional)

If you're in a pinch and want to give that strategy a try, you can purchase up to 5 Bewitching Branches from the merchant near Bellum Church which is to the southwest of the Grand Lift of Dectus.

12. Get Halligtree Medallion - Left (Required)

After defeating Niall ascend the tower to the north using the lift and retrieve the left half of the Halligtree Medallion.

13. Use Halligtree Medallion (Required)

Once you have both halves of the Halligtree Medallion, go to the Grand Lift of Rold Site of Grace to use. It stands where you're normally prompted to hoist the rolled medallion. Instead of that though flip through the options and you should get the one to hoist the secret medallion. Doing so will have the lift take you to the hidden path to the Halligtree.

14. Consecrated Snowfield (Required)

This is a whole explorable dungeon with invisible platforms but for our purposes, we'll just b-line it for the exit on the other side.

15. Consecrated Snowfield Walkthrough (Required)

The next step is to get through Snowfield's extremely low visibility, making that difficult. You're supposed to follow the lights on the ground which guide the way through, but it's easier to just take a few straight paths instead. All that's required is the compass on your hud. Starting from the cave opening head almost directly north with a slight tilt towards the east. You should quickly reach the Consecrated Snowfield Site of Grace.

16. Inner Consecrated Snowfield Walkthrough (Required)

From there, you'll want to head as directly north as you can manage. After traveling a pretty far distance without any obstacles, a cluster of rocky formations that are directly in your path will become visible. Skirt around the right side to make a safe drop down to the ground below. Then head northwest to find the inner Consecrated Snowfield Site of Grace a very short distance away and visibility will clear up substantially as you move north from this location.

17. Anastasia Tarnished Eater Invader (Optional)

First, grab the map fragment a little further north, then double back to the Frozen River and travel up along it towards the northwest. You'll pass by a spot where Anastasia Tarnished Eater should invade and at this location she'll drop a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone when defeated.

18. Apostate Derelict

The Apostate Derelict is guarded by a walking mausoleum that launches magic explosive projectiles when approached. Dodge the explosions and take the mausoleum down as you would with any other, then head into the Derelict Church.

How To Complete Latenna’s Quest In Elden Ring?

In Derelict Church, you'll find two things. The first is a silver mirrorshield, the second is a giant sleeping albenark. As you approach, you should get the option to summon Latenna. Do so and she will share some dialogue with her larger sister. And afterward, speak with Latenna to get the Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone and that's about it for Latenna.
