How to Level and Upgrade Glyphs in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred (Season 6)
The 2.0 Patch brings a complete overhaul to the Diablo 4 paragon and glyph leveling system, introducing more strategic and rewarding progression mechanics. This guide will explore changes and methods for leveling or upgrading glyphs in Diablo 4 Season 6 and Vessel of Hatred expansion.
Glyph Leveling/Upgrading System Changes in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred
1. Leveling Location
Glyphs can no longer be leveled in Nightmare Dungeons
All glyph leveling is now exclusively done in The Pit
The Gauntlet system has been disabled
2. New Leveling Mechanics
Maximum glyph level increased from 21 to 100
Upgrading now uses an attempt-based system instead of experience
Players get 3 base attempts per run, plus 1 bonus attempt for deathless runs
Success chance system similar to Diablo Immortal's legendary gems
Guaranteed upgrade when Pit tier is 10 levels higher than glyph level
Every 20-level difference provides an additional bonus upgrade per attempt
3. Other Changes
New radius increases at specific levels, the first increase at level 15 and the second increase at level 46
New legendary bonus power unlocks at level 46
Faster leveling compared to the previous system, three deathless Pit tier 30 runs can take a glyph from level 1 to 19, while the previous system required six level 100 runs to reach level 21.
How to Level and Upgrade Glyphs in Diablo 4 Season 6 & Vessel of Hatred
The new system allows glyphs to reach level 100 (up from the previous cap of 21) and introduces a three-tiered power system that includes the base power, a threshold bonus at 25 attribute points, and a new legendary bonus that unlocks at level 46. These improvements provide substantial power increases, with the radius size expanding at level 15 and again at level 46, allowing players to activate more nodes on their Paragon boards. The enhanced glyph system appears to be a fundamental part of character progression, particularly as players advance through the Torment difficulty tiers and explore the new Paragon board system, which now features class-specific nodes and layouts across five total boards. Then how to level glyphs in S6 and VoH expansion?
The new glyph leveling system exclusively takes place in The Pit, which becomes available once you reach level 60. Instead of gaining experience through Nightmare Dungeons, you now upgrade glyphs through an attempt-based system where each Pit run provides three base attempts, plus one additional attempt if you complete the run without dying. Each attempt has a success chance percentage for upgrading your glyph. The success rate depends on the level difference between your glyph and the Pit tier you're running.
1. Reach level 60 to unlock The Pit
2. Choose an appropriate Pit tier:
For guaranteed upgrades: Select a tier 10+ levels above your glyph level
For faster progression: Run higher tier Pits when possible for bonus upgrades
3. Complete The Pit run:
Standard completion: Receive 3 upgrade attempts
Deathless completion: Receive 4 upgrade attempts
4. Use your upgrade attempts:
Check the success chance percentage
Apply attempts strategically based on success rates
5. Progress through Pit tiers as you get stronger:
Pit 1-20: Initial progression
Pit 20: Unlocks Torment 1
Pit 35: Unlocks Torment 2
Pit 50: Unlocks Torment 3
Pit 65: Unlocks Torment 4
