Elden Ring Weapon Tier List 2025 - Ranking All 102 Weapons in Shadow of Eredtree (Patch 1.16)

ELDEN RING WEAPON TIER LIST 2025

F Tier

These weapons are either jokes, have broken mechanics, or are simply outclassed by everything else:

102. Forked-Tongue Hatchet

A shittier version of an already existing weapon, with dagger-adjacent range and a drop rate that makes it feel like a cruel joke. This weapon is the epitome of "why even bother?" Weighing 4 lbs and offering nothing but disappointment, it’s outperformed by almost any axe with a blood affinity. Its gimmick is so weak even meme builds would hesitate to pick it up.

101. Stone-Sheathed Sword

A meme weapon with meme damage. Even with 80 Strength and Dexterity, this weapon still falls behind a Weathered Straight Sword by 16 damage. It’s clear this weapon was designed as a joke, and the punchline is how useless it is.

100. Tooth Whip

Does the stamina debuff even work? Probably not. This weapon comes with an underlying question: is its gimmick functional? Testing has revealed no noticeable stamina effects in PvE, and its damage is mediocre at best.

99. Bloodfiend's Sacred Spear

Untapped potential that's wasted on a skill that can't function on stairs. The weapon's Ash of War struggles with terrain, getting caught on random rocks and walls. Even for raw damage, there are far better options.

98. Repeating Crossbow

A crossbow that fires 12 arrows but does damage as if it fired 3. This weapon suffers from severe drawbacks, including massive FP costs and nerfed status buildup. It's hard to justify using it when other ranged options are far superior.

97. Nanaya's Torch

Cool lore, terrible weapon. A torch with Madness buildup sounds fun, but its damage and utility are abysmal. Use it for thematic purposes only.

96 & 95. Wolf & Serpent Crest Shields

Great shields, terrible weapons. As shields, they’re top-notch. As weapons, they lack the scaling and damage output to justify their use.

B Tier (Barely Usable)

With significant drawbacks, these weapons can work—if you’re desperate.

94. Spirit Glaive

Ghostflame sorceries’ lackluster cousin. Its split scaling makes it awkward to build around, and its unique skill is slow and cumbersome.

93. Main-Gauche

The left hand you didn’t need. While it has a decent parry animation, it’s completely outclassed by shields or other daggers for critical hits.

92. Messmer Soldier’s Shield

A sturdy companion better left as a shield. Used as a weapon, it’s a glorified office clock with minimal damage.

91. Bonny Butchering Knife

A downgrade of the base game’s Butchering Knife. Its scaling is split in a way that makes power-stancing impossible without stat investment in two separate areas.

90. Greatsword of Radahn (Light)

A weaker version of its Lord counterpart. While it has some changes to scaling that help, it’s still overshadowed by the Lord variant.

89. Devonia's Hammer

A colossal disappointment. Its unique skill is flashy but lacks the damage output to justify its weight and stat requirements.

88 & 87. Thiollier's Hidden Needle & Velvet Sword

Sleep weapons that might put you to sleep instead. Sleep build-up is too niche, and the lack of Arcane scaling makes these status weapons feel incomplete.

86. Spiraltree Seal

A seal with scaling so bad it’s insulting. Its 305 sorcery scaling at 80 Faith is embarrassingly low, making it one of the worst catalysts in the game.

85. Spirit Sword

A dagger disguised as a curved sword. Its mediocre scaling and short range make it hard to use effectively.

84. Smithscript Dagger

A ranged dagger with limited utility. While the throwing animations are fun, its damage is underwhelming.

83. Madding Hand

Madness gimmick, mediocre damage. The Madness effect is unreliable, and its damage output is far too low to justify its use.

82. Golem Fist

A fist weapon that tries to do too much. Its ranged heavy attack is interesting but ultimately clunky and inefficient.

81. Golden Lion Shield

A repurposed Redmane asset with little bite. While great as a shield, its weapon potential is minimal.

C Tier (Mediocre but Manageable)

These weapons can work with the right build but are far from optimal.

80. Spread Crossbow

A scattergun that doesn’t scatter effectively. Its mechanics are flawed, and its damage output is inconsistent.

79. Smithscript Spear

A spear with potential, ruined by damage falloff. Its heavy attack animation is cool, but the range penalties make it impractical.

78. Fire Knight's Shortsword

A dagger with fire damage… and little else. Its innate fire damage is situationally useful but overall underwhelming.

77. Shield of Night

Unique but impractical. Its Counterattack mechanics require perfect play and still struggle against larger enemies.

76. Beast Claw

A weapon that drains stamina like no other. While its moveset is flashy, its low damage and high stamina consumption hold it back.

75. Chilling Perfume Bottle

A frost weapon that’s just okay. Its Elemental damage is nice, but its scaling is unimpressive.

74. Swift Spear

A 'fast' spear with oddly slow animations. Its delays between light attacks ruin what could have been an excellent weapon.

73. Lamenting Visage

The strongest torch in the game—but it’s still a torch. It hits harder than expected but is still outclassed by nearly every other weapon.

72. Carian Sorcery Sword

A weapon-catalyst hybrid with scaling issues. Its unique skill is fun, but its scaling is bugged, making it unreliable.

71. Ansbach's Longbow

A bow that tries to be a light bow but fails. Its utility is limited, and its damage output is mediocre at best.

B Tier (Solid Contenders)

These weapons are reliable and versatile, though they have minor flaws or limitations that keep them from being top-tier.

70. Frenzyflame Perfume Bottle

Madness in a bottle, with some caveats. Its scaling is messy (requiring both Intelligence and Faith), but its unique skill makes it a viable choice for PvP. However, its limited range and awkward stat investment hold it back in PvE.

69. Smithscript Axe

Throwing axes are cool but impractical. The throwing attacks from this weapon are flashy but suffer from poor range and heavy damage falloff. Its performance in melee combat is solid, but the axe’s gimmick feels underwhelming.

68. Moonrithyll's Knight Sword

Copy-paste problems hold it back. While functional, this weapon feels like a reskin of existing greatswords. Its unique skill doesn’t hit as hard as competitors, making it forgettable.

67. Horned Warrior's Sword

A stamina-guzzling but stylish weapon. Its unique skill is flashy and powerful, but the stamina cost is absurd, making it difficult to use in prolonged encounters.

66. Deadly Poison Perfume Bottle

A somber weapon that doesn’t deserve it. The poison mechanic is useful for niche builds, but its physical damage is weak, and its scaling is subpar.

65. Freyja's Greatsword

A colossal sword that arrives too late. By the time you acquire this weapon, you’ll likely have better options. Its heavy infusion is decent but doesn’t justify its late-game availability.

64. Bloodfiend's Fork

Barbaric Roar is its saving grace. This weapon is a niche pick, but pairing it with Barbaric Roar can make it surprisingly effective at building bleed.

63 & 62. Lightning and Fire Spark Perfume Bottles

Simple but effective. Both bottles deliver pure elemental damage, making them useful for exploiting weaknesses. The Fire Spark Bottle edges out slightly due to its consistent scaling.

61. Barbed Staff-Spear

Holy damage and bleed… but not much else. The combination of holy damage and bleed is unique but doesn’t translate to high effectiveness. Its scaling is unimpressive, and its overall damage output is middling.

60. Black Steel Greatshield

A shield with surprising offensive potential. While primarily defensive, this greatshield can hit harder than many one-handed weapons in Elden Ring, making it a fun off-meta pick.

A Tier (Top Performers)

These weapons excel in most scenarios, offering high damage, utility, and versatility.

59. Bone Bow

A bow that shines with frostbite. The Bone Bow’s unique skill, Rancor Shot, adds frostbite buildup, making it perfect for status-focused builds. While bows aren’t typically meta, this one is a standout option.

58. Igon's Greatbow

The strength player’s bow of choice. With high strength scaling, this bow is tailor-made for heavy builds. It’s great for supplementing melee-focused playstyles with ranged utility.

57. Sword of Darkness

A solid weapon with a unique debuff mechanic. Its unique skill reduces enemy damage, making it a great choice for defensive playstyles. However, it’s slightly outclassed by its counterpart, the Sword of Light.

56. Rabbath's Cannon

A flashy but situational weapon. The Rabbath’s Cannon excels in PvP and against stationary enemies, but its long reload times and heavy weight make it hard to recommend for general use.

55. Poleblade of the Bud

An underrated halberd with solid utility. Its unique skill provides excellent crowd control, and its alternate halberd moveset makes it a reliable status builder.

54. Fire Knight's Seal

A niche but powerful Faith-focused catalyst. This seal boosts Fire Knight incantations by 15%, making it a must-have for fire-themed builds.

53. Sword of Light

The better of the two holy swords. Offering a direct buff to holy damage, this sword is more reliable than the Sword of Darkness. It’s a great pick for Faith builds.

52. Smithscript Greathammer

A versatile and fun weapon to use. The Smithscript Greathammer combines great range, decent scaling, and unique throwing mechanics, making it a solid pick for strength builds.

51. Rellana's Twin Blades

A flashy weapon with awkward scaling. While its unique skill looks amazing, its split scaling across Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Faith makes it difficult to optimize.

50. Greatsword of Radahn (Lord)

A weapon worthy of its name. The Lord variant of Radahn’s Greatsword packs a punch, with a devastating unique skill and solid scaling.

B Tier (Solid Contenders)

These weapons are solid, with notable strengths but some limitations that keep them from climbing higher.

49. Maternal Staff

A staff with split scaling that demands dedication. The Maternal Staff is a hybrid tool for Intelligence and Arcane builds, boasting decent scaling (55 in both stats). While its sorcery boosts are useful, its potential is limited in non-New Game+ cycles.

48. Serpent Flail

The only flail worth using, but still a flail. Its Faith scaling and fire-oriented unique skill make it stand out among flails, but flails as a weapon class remain clunky and situational.

47. Queelign's Greatsword

Arcane scaling makes this weapon shine. The Queelign’s Greatsword excels in status builds thanks to its Arcane scaling, but its slow moveset holds it back compared to faster greatswords.

46. Obsidian Lamina

A scythe that almost redeems the weapon class. With a unique heavy attack for multi-hits and decent Dexterity scaling, this scythe is a good pick for status builds. However, scythes are still overshadowed by many other weapon types.

45. Death Knight's Twin Axes

Lightning damage and faith synergy. These axes are perfect for Faith builds, thanks to their lightning scaling and unique skill. However, their two-handed moveset feels awkward compared to other dual-wield options.

44. Great Katana

A katana that’s just ‘good enough.' The Great Katana offers decent scaling and a versatile moveset but is outclassed by other katanas in the DLC.

43. Sword of Night

A weapon with confusing scaling choices. Its magic damage scales with Dexterity, giving it strange synergy for hybrid builds. While decent, it’s overshadowed by more straightforward magic weapons.

42. Black Steel Twinblade

A twinblade with absurd holy damage potential. Holy imbuement boosts its power significantly, especially with flat buffs like Order’s Blade. Its speed and versatility make it a solid option for Faith builds.

41. Horned Warrior's Greatsword

Horny tornadoes never lose their charm. With its unique skill capable of mass crowd control, this greatsword excels at stopping enemies in their tracks. Its Faith scaling is lacking, but the utility of its skill makes up for it.

A Tier (Top Performers)

These weapons excel in most situations and are highly versatile, suitable for a wide variety of builds.

40. Messmer Soldier’s Axe

A surprisingly good quality axe. With a fast moveset and great scaling, this axe is a standout among its class. Its ability to apply status with greases adds to its versatility.

39. Gazing Finger

A colossal weapon that screams style. Its unique skill is situational but devastating when used correctly. While it lacks the raw power of other colossals, its versatility earns it a place in A Tier.

38. Putrescence Cleaver

Arcane scaling gives it hidden power. With high physical AR and a strong unique skill, this cleaver is a powerhouse for Arcane builds. It’s great for bleed-focused playstyles.

37. Smithscript Cirque

Throwing blades finally find a niche. The Smithscript Cirque excels at close-range status application with its double-projectile attacks. Its damage is lower than other backhand blades, but its unique utility makes up for it.

36. Star-Lined Sword

A katana for Intelligence builds. Its unique skill offers a six-hit combo, and its scaling is straightforward, making it an excellent pick for magic-focused dexterity players.

35. Poisoned Hand

A weapon that rewards poison builds. The Poisoned Hand offers a 7.5% attack power boost when poison is active, making it a strong choice for Arcane builds.

34. Dueling Shield

The pinnacle of guard-counter weapons. With proper investment, this shield becomes a reliable choice for counter builds. However, it’s overshadowed by the Carian Thrusting Shield.

33. Greatsword of Damnation

A corkscrew of destruction. Its unique skill is powerful for both PvE and PvP, but its high stat requirements make it difficult to optimize.

32. Anvil Hammer

Big slaps, big stats. This colossal weapon boasts incredible scaling with Strength and Faith, making it a go-to for hybrid builds. Its weight is its only drawback.

31. Dryleaf Seal

A midgame seal with underrated utility. While it shines for Faith builds in midgame, its performance tapers off in late-game content compared to other seals.

30. Curseblade's Cirque

A blade with surprising versatility. Its unique skill synergizes well with many talismans, making it a great pick for status builds.

29. Lizard Greatsword

An underrated status monster. Its charged heavy attacks apply status twice, making it a formidable weapon for bleed or frost builds.

28. Verdigris Greatshield

A shield that punches harder than most weapons. With high physical damage and excellent guard boost, this shield can serve as both a weapon and a defensive tool.

27. Dragon-Hunter's Great Katana

Perfect for slaying dragons and large enemies. Its massive AR and unique heavy attack make it a standout weapon for Strength/Dexterity hybrid builds.

26. Milady

A lightweight powerhouse with a flexible moveset. This weapon’s unique skill and six-hit attack chain make it ideal for status builds, especially with the Occult affinity.

25. Flowerstone Gavel

A casting stick that doubles as a hammer. Its unique skill, Flower Dragonbolt, adds utility and anti-dragon capabilities, making it a great pick for Faith/Arcane hybrids.

24. Death Knight's Longhaft Axe

A straightforward but effective weapon. Its high Strength scaling and powerful unique skill make it a reliable choice for melee-focused builds.

23. Red Bear's Claw

Short range, massive impact. The Red Bear’s Claw is deadly in close combat, with a unique skill that lingers and builds bleed quickly.

22. Leda's Sword

A weapon of divine utility. Its unique skill cleanses status effects (including ones you’ve inflicted), making it situational but powerful for Faith builds.

21. Euporia

A Twinblade with a unique buff mechanic. While its scaling is just okay, its buff power and versatility make it a strong choice for aggressive builds.

20. Mesmer Soldier's Spear

The best spear in the DLC. With great scaling and incredible range, this spear is perfect for both PvE and PvP.

19. Smithscript Shield

A shield that doubles as a ranged weapon. Its unique skill, Discus Hurl, makes it a fun and surprisingly effective option for hybrid builds.

18. Backhand Blade

A versatile weapon for status builds. Its six-hit attack chain and range make it a strong choice for Dexterity players.

17. Shadow Sunflower Blossom

A Faith/Strength hybrid weapon that delivers. Its unique skill and excellent scaling make it a top pick for hybrid builds.

16. Greatsword of Solitude

A Blasphemous Blade rival. Its high Strength scaling and powerful unique skill make it one of the best greatswords in the game.

15. Rakshasa's Great Katana

The ultimate quality katana. With excellent scaling and versatility, this katana is a must-have for hybrid builds.

14. Black Steel Greathammer

A colossal weapon with holy flair. Its guard counter explosion mechanic makes it unique and deadly.

13. Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword

A weapon designed for Arcane builds. Its scaling allows Arcane to boost both physical and magic damage, making it a standout choice.

12. Dancing Blade of Ranah

A curved sword with incredible scaling. Its unique skill is flashy and devastating, making it a top-tier Dex weapon.

11. Sword Lance

A legendary weapon that hits like a truck. Its scaling and status buildup potential make it a meta-defining weapon for many builds.

S Tier (The Best of the Best)

The cream of the crop. These weapons dominate in both PvE and PvP and offer unmatched power and utility.

10. Dryleaf Seal

An underrated seal with unique scaling. While it shines primarily in the midgame, its unique scaling progression makes it a great tool for builds that prioritize Faith.

9. Curseblade's Cirque

A versatile blade with surprising utility. Its unique skill is powerful, and its ability to guard counter makes it a top pick for PvP.

8. Verdigris Greatshield

A shield that hits like a colossal weapon. With incredible guard boost and solid damage, this greatshield is perfect for defensive strength builds.

7. Dragon-Hunter's Great Katana

A katana that slays dragons with ease. This weapon is tailor-made for taking down large enemies, with high scaling and a devastating heavy attack.

6. Staff of the Great Beyond

The ultimate hybrid casting tool. With the ability to cast both sorceries and incantations, this staff is a game-changer for hybrid builds.

5. Claws of Night

The best dexterity weapon in the game. With incredible reach, bleed buildup, and versatility, this claw weapon is a must-have for dex builds.

4. Fire Knight's Greatsword

A colossal weapon with unmatched firepower. This sword combines the best aspects of the Godslayer Greatsword and Flame Art builds, making it a top-tier pick.

3. Carian Thrusting Shield

A shield that outshines most weapons. This shield is not only defensive but also offensive, excelling as a guard-counter weapon with insane scaling and utility.

2. Bloodfiend's Arm

An Arcane weapon that breaks the game. With absurd bleed buildup and a unique heavy attack mechanic, this weapon is one of the most powerful in the DLC.

1. Pata

The undisputed king of fist weapons. The Pata removes the primary drawback of fist weapons (range) while maintaining incredible damage. It’s a meta-defining weapon that excels in both PvE and PvP.
